We just took this one, and it's in excellent condition - essentially, it's an opportunity to get a like new D-28 Authentic 1937 Aged for way less than a new one. Vetted and setup by the techs in our shop, it's ready for it's next home.
This exceptional reissue is built using historically accurate hide-glue construction and an authentic 1937 forward-shifted, hand-scalloped X-bracing pattern. Experience the holy grail of tone wood combinations with a solid, premium Adirondack Spruce top paired with solid Guatemalan Rosewood back and sides. This combination delivers the legendary, low-end bass, expressive mids and crystal clear highs. This model is a real standout from the its D-18 counterpart with even more warmth thanks to its rosewood back and sides. The guitar is treated with its Vintage Tone System (VTS) which is designed to give it a more open sound that replicates the cellular structure of a century-old soundboard.
The feel of this instrument is incredibly authentic, with its solid mahogany neck carved into the exact 1937 Barrel and Heel profile. This chunky, hand-shaped carve profile feels full and supportive in the hands. The solid ebony fingerboard features a traditional 16" radius, period-correct abalone diamond and square inlays, and a 1-3/4" nut width, giving you the perfect string spacing for both powerful flatpicking and fingerstyle playing. To complete the pre-war experience, Martin’s Stage 1 Aging process delicately applies a fine weather-checked lacquer and lightly patinated hardware.
